The 1400 Series Cable Reels in this section are sized to handle either "lift" or "drag" applications, given the cable size indicated. Click the icons below to view available cable lengths.

LIFT APPLICATIONS

A "lift" application is when the spring-driven reel is asked to "lift" the cable up into the reel as the device being powered is lifted.  The reel is usually mounted above the moving device that is being powered. A lift application can also occur when the cable is manually pulled down from a reel mounted from the ceiling.  When the ratchet is released, the reel pulls the cable up onto the rotating spool.

DRAG APPLICATIONS

In this application, the reel is usually stationary and the cable is pulled from it manually.  When the user releases the locking ratchet, the reel  "drags" the cable back onto the rotating spool.

Cable length listed is actual length. Be sure to order enough cable.  For recommendations, see “Cable Length Needed” page on the Cable Reels Specification Data Sheet. Here you will find all of the factors you should consider when choosing the correct reel.
